Smokey Bones Erie: Reviews & Ratings

I debated whether to write a review at all, but I was genuinely disappointed with my experience—at least when it came to the food. I ordered the "Bone Fire" and added brisket and mac & cheese. As a Texan and someone who knows BBQ, I was excited to try it based on the strong reviews and photos online. Unfortunately, what I got didn’t live up to the hype. Breaking it down item by item—because almost everything had an issue—the brisket was completely dry, like it had been cooked a day or two before and reheated in a microwave. Same story with the ribs, sausage, and steak. The steak fries were so blackened I didn’t even recognize them as fries until I took a bite. Once I did, it was clear they’d been refried—edible, but not overly enjoyable. The chicken might have been fresh, but it was still dry. The only real highlights were the peppers and the wings—they were actually decent. The mac & cheese was just that—mac & cheese. Nothing memorable, but not bad either. I managed to eat those and the steak fries, but that was about all I could get down. Maybe it was just an off day in the kitchen, but for over $60, I felt pretty ripped off. The only reason this isn’t a 1-star review is because the staff was genuinely friendly and attentive. But based on the food alone, I seriously doubt I’ll be back.

Went for lunch and got the chicken and pork nachos . Was nice in size and value was not super flavorful but added some of the BBQ sauce that they have at the table (which I really like that they have them at the table like that) and it elevated the nachos taste very nicely. We really liked how spacious it feels and not like your sitting on your fellow dinors laps The waitress was attentive but not overly which was nice. The price wasn't too bad pretty comparable to other restaurants in that area. Overall looking forward to going back to try some new items.

We ordered the bone fire from the menu and it was delicious. The steak, chicken and ribs were cooked to perfection with a great chargrilled flavor. Regan was our waitress, she was very attentive and kind. She answered our questions regarding the menu and made sure we felt comfortable. I recommend you visit this restaurant.

Welcome to Smokey Bones Erie, a destination where barbecue lovers can satisfy their cravings in a lively atmosphere! Located at 2074 Interchange Rd, Erie, PA, this establishment serves up a variety of grilled delights, though the experience seems to vary among diners.

As I delve into the essence of Smokey Bones Erie, it's essential to highlight the ambiance and service, which many patrons rave about. Positive remarks about the staff paint a picture of hospitality and attentiveness. From friendly greetings to willingness to assist, waitstaff like Regan and Tori have left a mark on visitors, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable.

However, the culinary offerings have garnered mixed reviews. The excitement sparked by their signature dish, the Bone Fire, appears to be overshadowed by some inconsistencies. While some diners have relished the juicy steak, chicken, and ribs, others have encountered issues, such as dry brisket and overcooked steak fries. The key takeaway? Flavorful dishes emerge when cooked to perfection, but care must be taken to maintain that standard consistently.

For those searching for a more casual bite, options like chicken and pork nachos promise to fill you up, especially when complemented with the BBQ sauces conveniently placed on the table. Although these nachos may lack a bit in flavor, they can be easily elevated to new heights with a dash of sauce. Smokey Bones Erie presents a welcoming space that allows diners to spread out and enjoy their meals without feeling cramped—a definite plus in the dining experience.

In summary, Smokey Bones Erie offers a blend of remarkable service and a menu filled with promise. While the kitchen may require some fine-tuning, the warm atmosphere and knowledgeable staff make it worth a visit. Whether you're a barbecue newbie or an aficionado from Texas, your exploration of their menu might lead to delightful surprises that overshadow any missteps. Be sure to grab your friends and head over to this vibrant establishment; you just might find a new favorite spot in Erie.
